MASCOITANIA AND MANU LEARING CENTRE
CODE OF CONDUCT

GENERAL CONDUCT
Mascoitania and the Manu Learning Centre are private places dedicated to preserving the environment and providing an extraordinary positive experience for all. For the safety and security of both visitors and the local environment, visitors are required to abide by the rules of the Manu Learning Centre and follow instructions issued by CREES and Manu Learning Centre staff. CREES reserves the right to evict visitors who breach this code of conduct.

SMOKING
Smoking at the Manu Learning Centre is permitted in designated areas only.

LITTER
Littering is prohibited. Visitors must dispose of all litter and waste using receptacles provided at the Manu Learning Centre. (This especially applies to cigarette buts and chewing gum).

ALCOHOL
Consumption of alcohol is permitted at the Manu Learning Centre, although drunken or antisocial behaviour will not be tolerated. Any alcohol consumed at the MLC must be bought at the MLC bar. Visitors are prohibited from bringing alcohol to the MLC.

DRUGS
Drugs are not tolerated at the Manu Learning Centre. Visitors found consuming or in the possession of illegal drugs will be expelled from the facility and will forfeit any rights to reimbursement. Violation of this policy will be reported to the local police.

RESPECTING LOCALS & THE LOCAL WILDLIFE
Visitors are expected to respect the local culture and people and act in responsible manner. Visitors should be aware that during their stay they are effectively representing the Manu Learning Centre and should act accordingly. Much of the wildlife in the area is fragile and care should be taken to minimise human impact as much as possible. The collection of flora and fauna samples must be pre-approved by the Scientific Coordinator or the MLC Manager.

DAMAGE
Visitors are required to pay for the any cost of damage inflicted on MLC property that is not considered to be general wear and tear by management.

COMPLAINTS
All complaints should be registered with the MLC Manager. Should a visitor feel that the MLC Manager has not responded to their complaint effectively they can lodge an official complaint with the office in Cusco via radio from the MLC or in writing within seven days of date of the end of their itinerary.

GROSS MISCONDUCT
Gross misconduct, of which the foregoing may include examples, will be misconduct deemed to be so serious that CREES can no longer tolerate the presence of the visitor. Examples may include; physical violence; theft or fraud; deliberate falsification of records, deliberate damage to property; possession or use of illegal drugs. A visitor who commits such an act will be evicted from the Manu Learning Centre facility (without notice and in the absolute discretion of CREES and its agents) and will forfeit any rights to reimbursement.
