Fundo Mascoitania was chosen as a research site because
of its variety of forest types and ecosystems, a legacy
of previous agricultural use and timer extraction during
the 1950s to late 1980s (visit the History
of Fundo Mascoitania page for more detail).
As well as primary rainforest, the Fundo Mascoitania Reserve
contains rainforests in various stages of regrowth, providing
a unique opportunity to research the ability of different
species to adapt to changing ecosystems. This information
will in turn be used in the creation of conservation and
sustainability strategies to protect the biodiversity that
the Peruvian Amazon is so famous for.
Projects are separated into the following sections which
can be accessed through the menu at the top of the page.

being considered to encourage feedback and to allow researchers
