CREES currently offers two programmes to
encourage both scientists and volunteers to participate
in projects at the Manu Learning Centre. If you
are interested in joining a team of like minded
individuals to contribute towards important conservation,
research and community projects, please select from
one of the programme options below.
If you have a background in an applicable field
of science you can apply through the Resident
Naturalist Programme for subsidised accommodation.
Resident Naturalists are also welcome to submit
project proposals of their own. (see below for more
details)
Applicants for the straight Volunteer Programme
should be enthusiatic and in good physical health.
Specific skill sets are not required as all neccessary
instruction and training is provided.

Volunteer Programme

What
is the Volunteer Programme?
 |
|
 |
|
After
a comprehensive two week training
course, volunteers assist on
a range of research projects
and sustainability inititives.
Two days out of every fortnight
are spent doing community work
in the local town of Salvacion.
Volunteers who enrol for a month
are rewarded with a four day
Amazonian expedition at the
end of their programme. |

Who
can apply to be a Volunteer?
 |

|
Volunteers
at the MLC are generally made
up of gap year students and
career breakers, although all
applications are welcome. Volunteers
should speak either fluent English
or Spanish, be in good health
and fit enough to participate
in physical activity. Volunteers
must be a minimum of 18 years
old. |

In addition to the above
you will also be able to purchase
goods and services while at
the MLC. Goods and services
that are purchased at the
MLC are signed for on account,
which is then settled on your
return to the Cusco office.
In order to have access to
this facillity you will be
required to leave a deposit
in the Cusco office prior
to departure.
MLC Bar & Equipment
Store:
Alcoholic beverages, sodas,
soft drinks, snacks, toiletries
and other equipment are generally
available from the MLC bar
and equipment store. Specific
items that are not available
can be ordered for delivery
from Cusco.
Laundry:
Bed linen is cleaned on
a weekly basis and is included
within the cost of accommodation.
A self service laundry area
at the MLC is available for
use by volunteers. A full
service laundry facility is
available for around $3 per
kilo.
Internet Access &
Phone Calls:
Currently these services
are only available in Salvacion
and are not provided by CREES
or the MLC. Prices vary, but
you can expect to pay $1.50
- $2.00 per hour for internet
access. You will need
cash to pay for these services.
