Resident Naturalist Programme

What is the RN Programme?

CREES offers researchers the opportunity to carry out projects on their own with the guidance of our Project Coordinator. Accommodation at the MLC will be offered at subsidized rates depending on the nature and impact of the projects in question. RN are asked to participate in the day to day life at MLC, by giving talks and guiding volunteers.

Who can apply to be a Resident Naturalist?

Successful applicants bring added value to the Manu Learning Centre above and beyond an enthusiastic commitment to work. Applicants must submit a proposal for a project that they are qualified to implement.

How much does it cost?

Accommodation Costs
Resident Naturalists can expect to pay between $15 - $22.50 per night for accommodation at the Manu Learning Centre. This includes three meals per day and costs associated with CREES projects.

Accommodation is priced on an individual basis depending on length of stay, time of year, and the value that the Resident Naturalist will bring to the MLC in terms of skills and experience.

Transport Costs
The cost of transport to the MLC depends on RN's flexibility and comfort requirements. Although not recommended by CREES, RNs can travel on public transport to save money.

Other Costs
Other costs not included in the daily accommodation rate include:

  • Laundry
  • Internet Access
  • Alcoholic beverages, sodas, soft drinks, snacks, toiletries etc as required from the MLC bar and equipment store
  • Local fluvial & road transportation as personally required
To obtain a comprehensive quote you must fill in an application form as described in 'How do I apply?' below.

Can I apply for funding?

RN's who require funding are encouraged to register their details with CREES. They will then be contacted in the event that CREES secures funding for a project that their application is suited to.

Peruvian nationals can apply directly through the CREES scholarship programme for full or partial funding. To apply please send your CV in an email to info@crees-manu.org
