Manu Full Exploration takes you from regenerating forests to one of the most biodiverse corners of the planet—Manu National Park. Along the way, you’ll learn how over a decade of research and local collaboration has shaped a sustainable model of conservation tourism.

From vibrant macaw clay licks to pristine primary rainforest, this experience is rooted in the accumulated knowledge of scientists, guides, and local communities working together. It’s a true immersion into the wonders of the Amazon, with every step contributing to its protection.

Day 1 – From Cusco to the Cloud Forest

Begin your journey through the Andes. Visit Huacarpay Lagoon and Paucartambo before descending into the cloud forest. Overnight at Manu Cloud Forest Lodge.

Day 2 – Welcome to the Amazon

Watch the cock-of-the-rock at sunrise, then continue your descent into the Amazon Basin. Travel by boat along the Madre de Dios River to reach the Manu Learning Centre (MLC).

Day 3 – Conservation and Culture

Explore trails, spot monkeys and toucans, and learn about conservation projects at the MLC. Visit bio-gardens and sustainability initiatives. Optional night walk.

Day 4 – Deep into the Rainforest

Boat journey to Romero Rainforest Lodge, located inside Manu National Park. Observe wildlife along the river and settle into one of the most remote lodges in Peru.

Day 5 – Cocha Exploration

Explore Cocha Salvador and Cocha Otorongo oxbow lakes by catamaran. Search for giant river otters, macaws, caimans and monkeys. Canopy tower visit for a unique forest view.

Day 6 – Trail Adventures and Nightlife

Hike deep forest trails around Romero. Learn about rainforest dynamics and biodiversity. Evening night walk to discover nocturnal species.

Day 7 – Back to the MLC

Return upriver to the Manu Learning Centre. Relax, reflect, or join a final forest activity.

Day 8 – Return to Cusco

Start your journey back through the Andes, returning to Cusco with unforgettable memories.

Accomodation

Throughout the Manu Full Exploration, you’ll stay in four distinct rainforest lodges — each offering a different view of the Manu Biosphere and a deeper connection with the Amazon.

  • Cock of the Rock Lodge (1 night): Located in the cloud forest, this lodge offers your first immersive night in nature. (Not operated by Crees Manu.)
  • Manu Learning Centre (MLC) (2 nights): A biological field station managed by Crees Manu. Just steps from the Madre de Dios River, the MLC combines comfort with sustainable, low-impact living.
  • Romero Rainforest Lodge (3 nights): Located inside the Manu National Park, this lodge is surrounded by primary rainforest.

At the MLC, you’ll stay in thoughtfully designed wooden pods with:

  • Twin or double shared rooms (single rooms available for a supplement)
  • Mosquito nets and comfortable bedding
  • Private en-suite bathrooms with hot showers
  • Chill-out spaces to rest or read
  • Three freshly prepared meals per day (dietary needs accommodated)
  • Filtered drinking water always available
  • Wi-Fi access daily from 7–9 pm
  • Electricity on Mon/Wed/Fri from 6–8 pm, powered by solar energy

Romero Rainforest Lodge (3 nights): Deep in the pristine lowland rainforest, this lodge is operated by Crees Manu and offers access to untouched primary forest within the Amarakaeri Communal Reserve. A place for true immersion and exploration.

Manu Wildlife Centre (1 night): A renowned lodge located in a biodiversity hotspot near the Madre de Dios River. (Not operated by Crees Manu.)
