This trip will inspire a truly authentic experience of the jungle. This remote part of the rainforest is home to some of Peru's endemic wildlife species.

During this tour, you will stay at Cock of the Rock Lodge in the Cloud Forest, the Manu Learning Centre, Romero and the Manu Wildlife Centre - all these lodges have en-suite private bathrooms and hot water.

 

One night in the Manu National Park is spent at Campsite Aguaje - basic wooden huts with beds in and shared bathrooms no hot water.

 

Single rooms can also be booked but single supplement applies.

 

Meal arrangements are all taken in a communal dining area.

 

Communication is limited in Manu, there is wifi access between 7-9pm daily at the Manu Learning Centre only.

For this tour, shared departures are minimum 4 passengers.  Private minimum 2 passengers. Below are shared departure dates, if you would like private transport then you can leave any day between May and October.

Itinerary
Day 1
Cusco - Cloud Forest

Depart Cusco early and start the journey by road through the Andes and into the Cloud Forest, a unique environment that is truly breathtaking. Stop at Paucartambo and Acjanaco ranger station along the way to experience some local culture and witness the spectacular views. Overnight at the Cock of the Rock lodge on a full board basis.

Day 2
Cloud Forest - Manu Learning Centre

After a night in the cloud forest, head to the port town to Atalaya and board your motorized canoe to ride down the Madre de Dios river to the Manu Learning Centre. After lunch, explore the local forest trail system with our naturalist guides before spending the evening learning more about the jungle or simply relaxing, watching the beautiful sunset. Overnight at the Manu Learning Centre, full board.

Day 3
Manu Learning Centre

Spend the day getting involved with our conservation projects, joining our scientists and researchers in their work. In the evening, there is an opportunity to head out on a night walk, if you are feeling brave enough. Overnight Manu Learning Centre, full board.

Day 4
Manu Learning Centre - Romero

Leave the Manu Learning Centre and travel downriver, stopping off at the Boca Manu village. Walk to the nearby oxbow lake where macaws and parrots come to roost. Overnight at Romero set in pristine primary rainforest. Full Board.

Day 5
Romero - Campsite Aguaje

Journey deep into Manu National Park and experience the wonderful array of wildlife that the worlds most biodiverse location has to offer. Spend the night at one of Manu’s best tented campsites and fall asleep to the sounds of the forest.

Day 6
Campsite Aguaje

Wake early and head to Cocha Salvador. Board small catamarans and head out onto the lake observing animal life from the water. Watch out for rare giant otters. Later, climb the 20-metre observation tower and wildlife watch from above. Overnight at the tented camp, full board.

Day 7
Campsite Aguaje - Manu Wildlife Centre

Experience the magic of trekking through primary rainforest, spotting black spider monkeys and using the knowledge you learnt at the Manu Learning Centre to spot animal tracks. Overnight at the Manu Wildlife Centre.

Day 8
Manu Wildlife Centre

Journey by boat to Colorado Village, passing several lowland native settlements and gold miners digging and panning gold along the banks of the Madre de Dios River. From Colorado start the overland journey to Puerto Carlos approx. 45 mins) and then cross the Inambari River (approx. 15 mins) by boat to Santa Rosa, before finally a van or bus will drive you on to Puerto Maldonado for your flight to Cusco.
