  • 07:00 Breakfast at the Manu Learning Centre.
  • 07:30 Head into the forest to document field research, such as butterfly surveys, through photography and video.
  • 12:30 Lunch and time to reconnect with the rest of the team.
  • 13:00 – 14:00 Rest or review, and organise your media content.
  • 14:00 – 17:00 Participate in a multimedia workshop led by the internship coordinator. Topics include photography, storytelling, editing, filmmaking, and more.
  • 17:00 Spanglish sessions—an informal language exchange with local staff that blends Spanish and English, supporting both cultural immersion and communication.
  • 18:30 Dinner with fellow interns, volunteers, researchers, and staff.

Interns’ stories

Julia Pollak

During my three-month internship at the Manu Learning Centre in the Peruvian rainforest as a multimedia intern, I gained invaluable experience in creative work. This opportunity allowed me to develop a more profound appreciation for nature and the rainforest. Witnessing its beauty and fragility first-hand ignited a deep love and commitment to environmental conservation. Furthermore, working with my camera professionally in this unique community setting revealed the joy and fulfilment that comes from capturing and sharing stories that matter. It was a period of personal growth, where my passion for both nature and visual storytelling merged harmoniously, leaving me with memories and experiences which will shape my journey.

Gregory Palmerino

My time interning with Crees Manu at the Manu Learning Centre was truly life-changing. Not only did it enhance my skill set and professional portfolio, but perhaps more importantly it connected me to an international community of like-minded thinkers who helped to restore my faith in the human animal. I am grateful for my experience and would recommend it to anyone looking to take a leap of faith and be the change they wish to see in this wonderful world.

Beatrice Twentyman

I had an amazing experience on my multimedia internship at the MLC. It’s such a beautiful place and was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Danny was incredibly supportive of both me and Sebas, not just in terms of the work but also in terms of our well-being and overall enjoyment. I was really interested in exploring the community aspect of Crees, and Danny went out of his way to facilitate my involvement in these different activities, creating unique and interesting opportunities. I loved our trip to Diamante, and it was great to be given responsibility and work as a team there. I also really enjoyed my time in Salvacion, where I got to see the work in the bio gardens with Maria. Overall, my time at the MLC was incredible, and Danny is an inspiring, reliable and hard-working mentor. The experience helped me focus on not just improving my technical skills, but also on thinking towards the future about what I want to get out of my career and life.
